Wealth, fame, power...

Long ago, a legendary hero traveled to the ends of the world and attained everything a man could desire. Upon his death, a new legend was born: all of his treasures, the One Piece, would belong to anyone brave enough to find it.Wars waged, kingdoms rose and fell, but the One Piece has yet to be found and claimed. And now, a new adventure is about to begin…

About this project

This project started as a single stray thought: what kind of classes would the One Piece characters be if they were in a Fire Emblem universe? That thought lead to many hours of daydreaming and researching, until I finally put pen to paper and decided to bring my thoughts to life. One Piece x Fire Emblem is a labor of love, and I intend to continue to work on it! The characters live rent free in my head, and they demand to be freed! I hope you enjoy the art and writing as much as I enjoy creating it, and please come visit again soon!--endspire

About the Artist

Hello, this is endspire! I am a 3D artist and Illustrator. I grew up both reading One Piece and playing Fire Emblem games, and dearly love both series.

Monkey D. Luffy

Class - Brawler

Skill - Gum-Gum: Luffy can counterattack attacks from any distance, and is immune to lightning magic.

Weapon - Red Hawk: a pair of black gauntlets that allows Luffy to hit multiple times in battle. A gift from Luffy’s brothers.

Luffy is a carefree and popular mercenary. His mercenary group, the Straw Hat Mercenaries, are famous for only taking on jobs that interest their eccentric captain. Due to his kind nature, Luffy often gets pulled into conflicts to defend the poor and downtrodden. Luffy is determined to find the One Piece of legend, and hopes that his various adventures will bring him closer to discovering its location. He loves to claim that one day he will be King of the Pirates, but no one quite knows what he means by that.

Artist Notes

Luffy was the first character I designed for this AU! I knew he wouldn't fit the typical Lord class, so I wanted him to be some kind of mercenary character. Instead of sailing the seas, the characters would travel and be hired for different missions. That seemed to suit the carefree Straw Hat Pirates! At first I was thinking of making Luffy a fighter, but axes didn't seem quite right. Three Houses introduced a fist fighting class, which fit Luffy perfectly! I liked how the Brawler class exposed the chest area, so you can see his scar really well. Luffy is probably strong enough to be a Grappler, but I didn't like the chains on the designs for Luffy. For his Gum-Gum skill, I thought of making him immune to blunt attacks (like against fists), but thought it would get too annoying to calculate. It was simpler to go with the classic counterattack skill, along with a lightning immunity for comedic effect. At the beginning, I wasn't sure what kind of style I wanted to draw this project in. I used Luffy for a style test for a more cell-shaded, less painterly style. Although that was closer to the anime origins of One Piece, I wanted to bring the look of the project more in line with the art of Sachiko Wada, who worked on Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.

Roronoa Zoro

Class - Swordmaster

Skill - Three Sword Style: When Zoro’s HP is below 50%, his chances of landing a critical hit goes up 150%.

Weapons -
Wado Ichimonji: increases all of Zoro’s stats by 10%
Sandai Kitetsu: increases critical hit chance by 50%
Enma: Deals double damage and inflicts 10 HP of damage to Zoro for every hit.

The ever reliable swordmaster of the Straw Hats, Zoro aims to be the greatest swordmaster in the world. He eagerly charges ahead into battle, ready to challenge himself against all kinds of opponents. Despite his eagerness, he is somewhat directionally challenged and needs to be properly directed in battle. Although he has three swords, Zoro can only equip one at a time and has to switch them out based on his needs during battle. Zoro studied the blade under the guidance of a legendary hero, the Trueblade Hawkeye.

Artist Notes

Zoro's design is probably one of my favorites for this AU! I mixed together design elements from 3 different games, and added some of Zoro's own unique features. The jacket has lapels like the Swordmaster design from Path of Radiance, but opened up more so you can see Zoro's haramaki (bellyband) and his chest scar. The back of the jacket splits into three tails like Myrmidons from Awakening, which mirrors Zoro's three swords and three earrings. The red waistband is from Zoro's post-timeskip outfit, and gives him somewhere to hold his swords. Finally, the armor, pants, and boots are from the Fate's Swordmaster design, matching Zoro's overall samurai theme. It would be a funny gameplay mechanic if Zoro couldn't see at all in fog of war. This man is just so lost all the time.

Nami

Class - Sage

Skill - Cat Thief: Enemies targeted by Nami drop gold when they’re defeated.

Weapon - Zeus: A powerful thunder tome that has a large AOE, stolen from Big Mom’s castle.

Nami was a simple thief when she was invited by Luffy to join the Straw Hats. At first she was unconvinced, but after Luffy freed her and her hometown from brigands, Nami decided to follow him. Clever and resourceful, she picked up the study of magic during their travels. Nami handles the group's budget and is constantly angry at Luffy for accepting jobs that don’t pay. Although she often argues with Anna for discounts, Nami gets along surprisingly well with the traveling saleswoman.

Artist Notes

Nami's outfit was heavily based on Sonya's design from Shadows of Valentia! I really love the teal of the inner lining; it helps make the orange and red of the outfit pop more. There's what looks like a little chain attached to her collar that wraps around her right armpit. It's not actually a chain, it's a line of coins! Maybe it's a fashion statement, maybe it's emergency funds....Nami's pre-promotion is a thief, but she reclasses into a magic based class. But she kept her very thief-like skill, which is kind of funny. She can literally and figuratively make it rain huh.

Usopp

Class - Sniper

Skill - Sniper King: Usopp’s ATK and SPD increases when next to an ally.

Weapons - Kabuto Bow: This bow has the same range as a longbow and has a large AOE when a critical hit triggers.

A villager that tags along with the Straw Hats and proves himself to be a skilled archer and loyal friend. Suitable for an archer, Usopp works the best when he’s standing behind his allies. Far behind his allies. Just because he works better there and has nothing to do with his extreme, natural cowardice. Usopp’s friends and allies understand his tendencies and trust him to have their backs. Having grown up in the same village, Usopp is a close friend of Merry and treats her like a little sister.

Artist Notes

At first I considered a design that exposes half of his chest and an arm, to show off Usopp's physique like his post-timeskip outfit. But thinking about it, he would prefer armor to keep himself safe. Some of Usopp's original design elements translated over well! His headphones became these kind of ear-covers. His blue and white wristband became blue armor with white straps.Usopp naturally suits a class that's meant to be away from the frontlines. I like to think of him being able to do his best when he's hiding behind another character. Thinking about it, Usopp fits the villager archetype the best!

Sanji

Class - Paladin

Skill - Chivalry: Increases Sanji’s SPD when next to a female ally or enemy.

Weapons - Diable Lance: Effective against cavalry and armored units.

Sanji is a wandering knight who serves no country, but lives his life by a strict code of chivalry. At least when women are involved. He serves as the group's chef and makes sure they’re well fed and ready for battle. Sanji dashes into battle on his loyal steed, Zeff, named after his mentor and father figure. Sanji and Zoro often compete on the battlefield; this leads to them defeating more enemies, but also sustaining more injuries.

Artist Notes

I tried to preserve each character's themed colors, but Sanji was a challenge. His color is blue, but he's also strongly associated with Black, his post-timeskip design has yellow accents, and his wano design is maroon. So I gave him a blue based outfit, black armor, and a maroon cape. I decided to make Sanji a Paladin since he seems to be the crewmember who rushes across the battlefield the most. And the image of a knight in shining armor suits him! His horse has giant braids, like Zeff!It would be funny if Sanji and Zoro have a hidden skill called Competition, which activates when they're next to each other. It increases their ATK but decreases their DEF. So they deal more damage but they're also more careless (lol)

Tony Tony Chopper

Class - Paladin

Skill - Brain Point: Calculates damage using the lower of the foe’s DEF or RES.

Weapons - Cherry Blossom Staff: restores a moderate amount of HP to target and cures all status ailments.

Chopper is the Straw Hat’s reliable (and only) healer. His presence on the battlefield is comforting to the Mercenaries and frankly baffling to all enemies. There is a rumor that he is a unique form of laguz, but no one can quite figure out what kind of animal he is. Although Chopper is primarily a healer, he is also skilled in combat and can defend himself. His staff was a gift from his mentor, Dr. Kureha, from the Kingdom of Sakura.

Artist Notes

Chopper has to be a healer! His scarf is so long that it drags behind him when he walks, because he's so small (lol). Chopper also counts as a laguz, and can reclass into a Reindeer Laguz. As a Reindeer, he counts as a cavalry unit and gets extra movement, but loses his ability to heal. He can also reclass into an armored unit, like his Guard Point. There's lots of potential for reclassing chopper, like his rumble ball transformations!

Nico Robin

Class - Sorcerer

Skill - Flower-Flower: Allows Robin create a replica with the same appearance, abilities and HP. Can only be used once per battle.

Weapons - Fleur Vent: A wind tome that allows the user to attack twice.

A woman seeking the secrets of the world, at first Robin only joined the Straw Hats as an excuse to travel quickly to various countries. However, she eventually made a home with them and now travels with them as their historian, sharing facts and knowledge of the political situation of each place they visit. There are rumors that her knowledge has the potential to destroy the world. Her past causes the mercenary group to be hunted in many kingdoms, but they cheerfully take this in stride.

Artist Notes

Robin was originally going to be a Dark Flier, but I couldn't resist the look of the Sorcerer outfit! The pattern on the bottom of her cape are Poneglyph designs. The Mechanist class in Fates has the Replicate skill, which I used for Robin's Flower-Flower skill! For game balance reasons, she can only use it once per battle. Can you imagine the potential of reclassing Robin into a Dark Flier, creating a replica of her and having 2 of her destroy the battlefield with Galeforce? That sounds so fun...

Franky

Class - General

Skill - Iron Man: When an enemy initiates close combat to an adjacent ally, Franky takes damage in the place of that ally.

Weapons - Wapometal Armory: An axe that can turn into a sword or lance based on what the enemy is equipped with.

Franky is an eccentric blacksmith with a penchant for creating unique weapons and armor. He is famous for his custom set of armor, his transforming weapon, and his flamboyant personality. Franky is friends with Sunny, who was raised by him and his family in the same city. Franky and Sunny often create weapons together, but they’re often too impractical to sell or even use.

Artist Notes

I was simultaneously excited and dreading Franky's design. I was excited because I really wanted him to look like the GBA sprites of Knight/Generals. I was dreading it because THAT'S SO MUCH ARMOR. Luckily, I had a 3D model of some armor that I was using for another project, and I was able to retool it for Franky. His armor has BF-37 on it! It looks like his hair is coming out of the top of the helmet, but it's actually fake hair attached to the top of the helmet, which Franky can restyle. Because of course it is. I was so happy when I drew Franky's chibi version; he looked exactly how I wanted him to! Big and chunky shapes!Franky's weapon is inspired by General Franky, and how it's made of Wapometal. I thought it would be fun to have a weapon that would always have weapon triangle advantage.

Brook

Class - Trickster

Skill - Soul King Performance: Reduces the SPD of the target and foes within two spaces, and increases Brook’s own SPD for one turn.

Weapons - Soul Solid: Enemies hit by this sword have their movement halved for one turn.

There are conflicting stories on how Brook came to be. Some say that his soul was brought back through devil fruit magic, long after his body decayed. Others say Brook’s body was resurrected by a Necromancer after he died, but somehow his soul came along with it, granting him sentience and independence. Whatever the reason, Brook joined the Straw Hats as their musician, and motivates his allies with his amazing musical abilities. Although he looks frightening, his jolly and friendly nature makes him a popular performer in all of the towns and villages the mercenaries stop at.

Artist Notes

My favorite part of Brook's outfit are the panels sewn into his jacket and pants. They're a light gray color, and are supposed to simulate bones! I based his colors more on his pre-timeskip outfit because his post-timeskip outfit was too colorful. Since Brook's theme colors are black and white, I tried to limit the amount of colored accents. But I also tried to keep the most contrast in the face area, so the white in his outfit is closer to a gray.Brook can also function as a Dancer unit! He can use the Play command on an ally to give them an extra turn. In the series, Brook seems to use his music offensively in battle, so his Soul King Performance skill was created with the idea that enemies would be distracted by Brook's music.

Jinbe

Class - War Master

Skill - Fish Man Karate: Reduces the enemy’s DEF by 60% when Jinbe’s critical hit triggers.

Weapons - Tiger Shark Gauntlets: User can hit multiple times while near a body of water.

A retired soldier of the Fishman Kingdom, Jinbe saved Luffy’s life during a terrible battle. Inspired by Luffy’s willpower and good nature, Jinbe decided to join the Straw Hats on their adventures. He is kind and wise, and looked up to as a mentor by the rest of the group. As a member of the Fishman Kingdom, Jinbe is often troubled by the political standing of his people.

Artist Notes

War Masters have an intricate chestplate design, and I decided to make a custom one for Jinbe! It's based off an Oni-mask. Jinbe's color is Ochre, which is hard to balance with his blue skin. I'm glad I was able to sneak a Sun Pirates symbol into his design! Jinbe's skill references how much water is in a human body. When Luffy first meet's Jinbe at Impel Down, he acts as a temporary guest party member and is a MUCH higher level than Luffy. It would be a fun challenge to have a Marineford map where you only had Luffy (pre-promoted class), Jinbe, and Iva (healer class). The map would be full of strong, promoted classes, half of them would be enemy Marines and the other half would be neutral Pirates. The goal is to escort Luffy from one side of the map to the other! It's a brutal map, but Marineford was a brutal arc.

Nefertari Vivi

Class - Princess

Skill - Rally Spirits: Allows Vivi to use the Rally command to increase the stats of an ally by 5 and movement by 1.

Weapons - Ma’at Staff: Heals all allies 15 HP.

The princess of Alabasta Kingdom. Vivi had gone deep undercover to investigate a coup against her kingdom. She hires the Straw Hats to deliver her safely to Alabasta, where she successfully prevents Alabasta from falling to ruin. Vivi is warmly welcomed among the mercenaries, and they see her more as a friend than an employer. She was invited to join the mercenaries on more adventures, but decided to dedicate her life to rebuilding her Kingdom.

Artist Notes

It was fun to explore a Princess class! Gameplay-wise, Vivi is based on Elincia from Path of Radiance. She's a flying unit that can use Swords and Staves. Vivi's flying mount is Karoo, but I'm still trying to figure out if it's a pegasus named Karoo, or if it's just a giant duck (lol). Her outfit is inspired by her princess dress at the end of the Alabasta arc, mixed with a bit from Elice's design from FEH.Vivi is much more of a support character than a fighter, so I gave her a unique staff and a skill that would buff allies. Ma'at is the Egyptian goddess of truth and justice, among other things.

Merry & Sunny

Class - Merchants

Apothecary - A shop to buy general goods such as vulneraries and elixirs.

Armory - A shop to buy and forge weapons.

Merry and Sunny are merchants in charge of making sure that the Straw Hat Mercenaries are well-stocked and ready for battle! Merry studied medicine in Syrup village and is close to Usopp. She joins up with the Straw Hats alongside Usopp and is in charge of the Apothecary. Sunny was raised by Franky and his family, and has developed many unique weapons. She joins with Franky and is in charge of the Armory. These two merchants are doted upon by the Straw Hats and do not take part in any battles.

Artist Notes

Merry and Sunny were the only truly original characters I designed for this project. I thought their ships should have some kind of representation, and shopkeeper NPCs seemed fun! Path of Radiance has a Merchant Convoy that travels with the Greil Mercenaries, so I wanted something like that. Since ship!Merry was a gift from Kaya, who's studying to be a doctor, Merry became the Apothecary. And ship!Sunny is full of so many features and weapons, so Sunny runs the Armory. The two of them are sisters, but lived in different towns and are reunited through the Straw Hats. And nothing bad happens to them! Ever!!They're kids because their body shape is based on the Klabautermann. Sunny even holds the hammer seen in the Klabautermann art! Their hairstyles and outfits reflect both the figureheads and the flags of the ships.

Trafalgar Law

Class - Sorcerer

Skill - Op-Op: Allows Law to attack from up to 10 spaces away, but deals damage to user equal to the number of spaces attacked from.

Weapons - Nosferatu Γ (Gamma): Restores user’s HP 75% the amount of damage inflicted upon the selected enemy.

Leader of a rival group of mercenaries, Law saved Luffy’s life after a terrible battle. He offers Luffy and his group an alliance to take down a powerful group of brigands-for-hire led by Kaido. Along the way, the alliance gets caught up in the troubles of the Kingdom of Dressrosa, and together they take down the false king, Doflamingo. Law is a powerful magic user, and is also Anoted to have excellent healing abilities. Although the two captains have vastly different personalities and fighting styles, Law and Luffy work well together on the battlefield.

Artist Notes

Law's outfit is heavily based on the Fates Sorcerer design! It's nice to have his tattoos fully out, and the feathers are similar to this feathered cape from Wano. But I want to design him an alternate outfit that's closer to the 3H Dark Mage line, so I can draw him in a Punk Hazard scene and not feel bad about him freezing. The Op-Op skill is powerful, but also damages Law if you get too greedy. There's a lot of fun potential to mix the Op-Op skill with other things! His current weapon is designed to mitigate the damage that his skill does. But it's also an option to let Law take the damage, and then give him an Escape Route skill so he can teleport quickly around the battlefield.Law is the only character that has an SS rating in staves, but he doesn't use them often.

Heart Mercenaries

Class - Bepo - Grappler, Penguin/Sachi - Solider

Skills -
Bepo - Mink’s Might: Increases damage of physical attacks.
Penguin - Naval Might A: Allows Penguin to cross water. Increases ATK/RES by 3 while over bodies of water.
Sachi - Naval Might B: Allows Sachi to cross water. Increases SPD/DEF by 3 while over bodies of water.

Members of Law’s group, the Heart Mercenaries. They are noted to be skilled in naval combat, and often take jobs along the coast. They follow their captain’s orders without question, and care for him greatly.

Artist Notes

To be honest, I added these three because I love Bepo and I thought Penguin and Sachi's hats would be cute as helmets. And I was right!! They're very cute!! The designs aren't very unique, but I did make sure to put the Heart Pirates symbol on them.Penguin and Sachi's skills reflect how comfortable they are in the water. I think in this AU, a lot of the maps are by bodies of water, so characters with water-based skills have more to work with.

Eustass Kid

Class - Blacksmith

Skill - Magnet-Magnet: Reduce damage from Iron, Steel, and Silver weapons by 50%. Decreases the cost in durability of weapons equipped by Kid.

Weapons - Punk Hammer: Effective against armored units, but prevents unit from making follow up attacks.

Leader of a rival group of mercenaries, Kid is famous for his brutal methods in finishing his jobs. There is also a rumor that many weapons don’t damage him. Because of this, Kid’s Mercenaries are feared and only hired for the worst of jobs. Luffy, Law, and Kid have been forced to work together a few times, which all three captains hate.

Artist Notes

I've never actually used a blacksmith classed character, but I found it suited Kid, as a character associated with metals. His left arm is still a prosthetic here, but it has simpler forms, and matches the armor on his other arm. The red fur around his shoulder was important for his character!Since Kid has magnet themed powers, I thought it would be fun to make it hard to damage him with any normal metallic weapon. He's designed to be a heavy-hitting physical tank type character, being able to deal and take massive damage. The trade off is that he's very slow and weak to magic.

Portgas D Ace

Class - Berserker

Skill - Flame-Flame: After combat, Ace creates [Flame] Veins. [Flame] Vein’s deal 7 damage to foes at the start of the enemy phase, and at the start of combat.

Weapons - Great Flame Axe: Unit can counterattack from any distance. If unit’s HP is greater than 25%, increase critical hit by 50%

Luffy’s brother, a member of the Whitebeard Warriors. Though at first glance he is more mature and polite than Luffy, Ace has the same impulsive and reckless nature as his little brother. He’s known for cheerfully running ahead into battles on his own, causing much destruction and mayhem. Although reckless, Ace is powerful enough to hold the front line himself. This reputation of his made him a highly requested fighter for those looking to hire from Whitebeard’s Warriors.

Artist Notes

Ace as a Berserker! I thought he would match Luffy's Brawler class well like this. The Fighter/Berserker line tend to not be wearing much, which also matched Ace's design. I took the skeleton armor design from the Awakening Berserkers, because Ace has a little skeleton emblem on his hat strings. I turned the emblem into a little skull helmet for him!The Flame-Flame fruit introduces Logia powers! I decided that Logia powers are used like Dragon Veins (Fates) and Divine Veins (FEH), in that they create terrain effects. The shape and effect of the Logia Veins are different for each one. The Flame effect is nice and simple, and just creates a row of fire!

Sabo

Class - Lord

Skill - Dragon’s Claw: Sabo is effective against armored and cavalry units. While attacking, he causes targeted enemies' weapon durability to be used up three times as quickly.

Weapons - Great Flame Lance: Unit can counterattack from any distance. If unit’s HP is greater than 25%, increase critical hit by 50%.

Luffy’s other brother. Raised as a noble, Sabo ran away from home and spent many years living with Luffy and Ace. After witnessing the injustices of their home kingdom, Sabo left on a journey to become stronger. Sabo is a member of the Revolutionary Army, who fight to take down unjust kingdoms and empires. Although he gave up his birthright, Sabo’s image on the battlefield is still that of a noble, inspiring all of his allies to follow him.

Artist Notes

Sabo is the only character I could justify giving the Lord class. The idea of a fallen Lord leading a Revolutionary army makes for a good story! HIs armor is based on Ephraim from Sacred Stones, with the color from Sabo's Reverie Arc outfit. A white cape feels very heroic! I couldn't get away with giving him a top hat though, please forgive me.The Dragon's Claw skill is inspired from the battles where Sabo can be seen crushing armor with his bare hands. Scary! But I figure that strength would have its drawbacks, so he probably breaks weapons quickly. I didn't give him the same powers as Ace, but he probably inherits the Flame-Flame fruit eventually. But wouldn't it also be lovely if the three brothers could safely reunite in this world? Then they can do a triangle attack together!

Marco

Class - Phoenix Laguz

Skill - Flames of Regeneration: Restores 50% of total HP every other turn.

Weapons - Mystical Bird Claw: When transformed, grants SPD +5. At the start of turn, inflict DEF/RES -7 on any foe within 3 spaces. After combat, +10 HP to any allies within 3 spaces of unit.

A member of Whitebeard’s Warriors, Marco was famous as an unkillable Phoenix Laguz. The sight of him flying above the battlefield terrifies his enemies and encourages his allies. He recently retired from the battlefield to become a doctor, but hasn’t lost his skill. Marco has a soft spot for Ace and Luffy, and can be persuaded to fight by them.

Artist Notes

Marco's design didn't need to be adjusted much to fit into the Fire Emblem world (lol). The most I did was adjust the cut of his jacket a bit and add some more trim details to it. It's also important to note that his wings rest on his back permanently, instead of being summoned over his arms. I did do a version with his glasses, but it felt too modern.A Phoenix Laguz is incredibly overpowered huh? Because of that, Marco isn't a playable character. He's a friendly NPC in Marineford and Wano.

Boa Hancock

Class - Wyvern Knight

Skill - Love-Love: Enemies targeted by Hancock have their movement restricted to 1 space for the next 3 turns.

Weapons - Perfume Bow: When targeting an enemy, inflict 50% damage of the attack to any enemy directly next to the target.

Amazon Lily is an isolated mountain range, famous for its pegasi. These flying horses only allow women to ride them, making Amazon Lily famous for its Pegasus and Falcon Knights. Hancock is the leader of the Kuja Knights, and has earned the title “Snake Princess” for her rare Wyvern mount. She is well known for her hatred of men and refuses to allow any onto Amazon Lily. The few times one might see a Kuja Knight is on the battlefield.

Artist Notes

Hancock was another character I was really excited to design but also dreading because I also wanted to draw her mount. Wyvern knights show up in Sacred Stones as a promotion for pegasus knights and wyvern riders! I always liked their designs, and was disappointed they never showed up in the other games. Their long snake-like bodies suited Hancock well! The Wyverns name is Salome, and it's designed to look like Hancock's snake companion. Since Hancock's physical appeal is important to her powers, her outfit is based on Camilla (Fates) and Cherche (Awakening).Amazon Lily's woman-only rule and Pegasus Knights only being able to be women was a fun connection to make! Instead of an island, Amazon Lily is an isolated mountain range that is almost completely inaccessible.

Carrot

Class - Laguz - Rabbit (Taguel)

Skill - Rabbit’s Speed: Carrot can attack twice in battle.

Weapons - Electric Gauntlets: After attacking, inflicts DEF/RES -5 on targeted enemy.

A young mink girl who decided to tag along with the Straw Hat Mercenaries out of curiosity. Carrot quickly proved herself to be an excellent fighter, and got along well with the rest of the mercenaries. While not expecting her adventure to take her quite so far, Carrot cheerfully took everything in stride. Carrot is young, but fearsome in battle. As a mink, she can transform into a Sulong form under the moonlight, making her even faster and stronger than she normally is.

Artist Notes

Carrot's original design is very simple, so I added some extra trim, a belt, and some long boots to bring her closer in line to a Fire Emblem design. When not transformed, Carrot functions like a fist fighting class.Minks and Zoan fruit characters both are considered Laguz units, but the Mink transformations are more situational. To match canon, it should only be a night time transformation, but that would be inconvenient game-play wise. It might make more sense to have a meter that charges up the more they fight, and when it's full they can transform into their Sulong form for a few turns?

Shirahoshi

Class - Cleric

Skill - Defenseless: Increase DEF/RES of nearby allies by 3. When targeted by an enemy, if an ally is within 2 spaces, that ally will fight in Shirahoshi’s place.

Weapons - Protection Staff: Increases target’s DEF/RES by 15.

The princess of the Ryugu Kingdom. Shirahoshi was confined to her room for many years, as she has a weak body and is constantly under attack. She confided to Luffy that she longed to see the world, which he mistook as a job request. Much to the chagrin of his crew and the kingdom, Luffy took Shirahoshi outside, and caused a lot of chaos trying to keep her safe. Unknown to everyone, Shirahoshi has the hidden ability to talk to and control demonic beasts.

Artist Notes

A mermaid cut dress for a mermaid princess! Her skirt has a faint scale pattern on it.In FEH, Brave Soren has a skill that causes another unit to become his decoy, which I found Incredibly Funny. It's a good skill for Shirahoshi to have, since she's not a combat unit at all. In fact, she's meant to be a very weak NPC that you need to defend.

Perona

Class - Dark Flier

Skill - Hollow-Hollow: When Perona is attacked, reduce the damage of the first attack by 80%.

Weapons - Negativity Tome: Inflicts -5 to ATK SPD, and DEF on target.

A mysterious woman who trained under a powerful sage. Perona ended up lost and on her own after a battle. She accidentally comes across Mihawk’s castle and befriends both him and Zoro. Although her appearance and personality are both bright and cheerful, enemies targeted by her lose all forms of motivation. Perona flies across the battlefield on her pegasus, Kumashi.

Artist Notes

Perona makes sense as a Dark Flier! She'd be a very fast and mobile unit, spreading her negative powers across the battlefield. Her skirt and hat are inspired by her post-timeskip outfit, while her tights are inspired by her pre-timeskip outfit. The armor around her waist is shaped like giant hearts, because it's cute! Her pegasus is named Kumashi, and has the same blue striped patterns as her stuffed bear. It's also a brown pegasus, which I've never seen before!

Yamato

Class - Oni Chieftan

Skill - Guardian Spirit: Halves damage from physical attacks and decreases SPD of targeted enemies by 10.

Weapons - Takeru Kanabo: When this unit is next to an ally, increase ATK/DEF by 5. When this unit is not next to an ally, increase SPD/RES by 5.

Kaido’s wayward son, Yamato has been confined to Kaido’s mountain fortress for his entire life and raised to be its guardian. Inspired by the life of a legendary samurai, Yamato rebelled against his father and sought freedom and justice. During his confinement, Yamato met and befriended a traveling Ace, who told him stories of his brother. When meeting Luffy himself, Yamato eagerly sought to prove himself an ally, helping the young mercenary in battle.

Artist Notes

The Oni Chieftain class is perfect for Yamato! HIs mask with a mane of hair is already a feature of the design. This class has a unique chest plate design, which I customized to be based on a hannya mask. So there's a hannya mask on his head and one on his chest, for double the intimidation.Yamato also has a Zoan fruit, but his skills aren't based on them. Since we mostly see his half-beast form and he still uses a weapon to fight, I didn't want to focus on a Laguz version for Yamato. But if I had to say, he'd be a Wolf Laguz, with ice powers.

Koby

Class - Hero

Skill - Heroic Resolve: If Koby’s HP is less than 50% or if an ally within 2 spaces of Koby has less than 50% HP, increase Koby’s ATK, SPD, DEF, and RES by 10.

Weapons - Silver Greatsword: Allows unit to counterattack from any distance. At the start of even number turns, +10 HP.

A friend of Luffy, Koby is a member of the Peacekeeping Knights. Koby is kind and earnest, which earns him the trust of the common people. After the Rocky Port Incident, people far and wide began to praise him as a hero, much to Koby’s embarrassment. He dreads the day that he might have to fight Luffy on the battlefield, but is also secretly excited to see how far the both of them have grown.

Artist Notes

Koby's design is based on the Fates version of the Hero, while his pose is based on Harken from Blazing Blade. The armor is very embellished and heroic, but the pose is formal, almost stiff. He kind of looks like someone who freezes up when asked to pose for a photo. When Luffy first meets Koby, he was a villager kidnapped by a bandit group. He grows exponentially under Garp's training.

Monkey D. Garp

Class - War Master

Skill - Garp the Fist: If Garp has no weapon equipped, calculate damage as if wielding a Silver Weapon.

Weapons - Fist of Love: Allows unit to attack twice, calculate damage with the lower of enemies’ DEF/RES.

Luffy’s grandfather and Koby’s mentor. Garp is a retired member of the Peacekeeping Knights. These days, he is mostly teaching the next generation of knights. Garp tried to train (and intimidate) Luffy and his brothers into becoming knights but they all refused, much to his disappointment. His retirement doesn’t stop him from strolling into battle, looking for extra exercise, much to the exasperation of his other knights.

Artist Notes

I designed another custom chest plate for Garp! This one is based on his dog hat design. And though Garp is a War Master, I took a lot of inspiration from the Three Houses warrior design, specifically from Alois's outfit. Since Garp is a knight, I decided he should look more buttoned up and formal, so he's wearing more armor than a normal War Master.

Buggy

Class - Trickster

Skill - Chop-Chop: Reduce the damage from Sword and Axe weapons by 80%.

Weapons - Clown Blades - Unit can attack up to 3 spaces away.

Buggy is a well known bandit who started with terrorizing small villages and somehow worked his way up to leading the largest bandit-for-hire organization, Cross Guild. Although feared by the common people, Buggy’s peers are often exasperated by his cowardly behavior. He seems to have a personal vendetta against the hero Shanks, and a slightly smaller vendetta against Luffy.

Artist Notes

Buggy as a trickster is perfect! It suits his personality and I've always thought those weird triangle designs around the collar are ridiculous. A ridiculous design for a ridiculous character. His colors are based on his introductory arc outfit, since his post-timeskip design makes him look like a giant pillowcase. By the way, Buggy's ponytail is coming out of the back of his hat (there's a hole in the brim). The Chop-Chop fruit powers were fun to play with! My logic is that his powers work the best with a slashing motion, so swords and axes. Lances feel more like a stabbing motion, so they're exempt.

Crocodile

Class - General

Skill - Sand-Sand: After combat, creates [Sand] Veins. [Sand] veins reduce the ATK of enemies by 50% and increases the SPD of allies by 5.

Weapons - Poison Axe: Deals 10 damage to targeted enemy after combat.

Crocodile was once a respected general in the Kingdom of Alabasta. However, he was secretly the mastermind behind the plan to instigate a coup and claim the kingdom for himself. Vivi, with the help of Luffy and his crew, were able to stop Crocodile from executing his plan, and had him apprehended. After breaking free from imprisonment, Crocodile sought to establish a bounty hunting organization and teamed up with Hawkeye and Buggy to do so.

Artist Notes

Crocodile's outfit is based on Emperor Vigarde from Sacred Stones. He's a General, but his outfit has a nice long cloak, making the design feel more luxurious. The addition of the fur trim adds to that feeling of luxury. Having that heavy cape blowing in the wind really sells the idea that Crocodile is standing in a sand storm. The Sand-Sand fruit is another logia skill with terrain effects! His AOE is small, but greatly reduces damage from his enemies and increases Crocodiles own speed.

Dracule Mihawk

Class - Trueblade

Skill - The Greatest: If HP is 100%, increase ATK/SPD by 20.

Weapons - Yoru- Prevents Mihawk from receiving debuffs.

The greatest swordsman in the world, Mihawk is looking for someone to offer him a good fight. To that end, he trained Zoro for a period of time, hoping that the young man would grow strong enough to challenge him. Mihawk owes no country or king his allegiance, and often shows up to battlefields out of boredom. His strength in battle has earned him the name Hawkeye.

Artist Notes

Mihawk's original long coat was easy to redesign into a Trueblade's long coat. The ornament in his hat is closer to the One Piece Live Action design, in that it's explicitly a feather. Just like in his original design, he's not wearing a shirt under that long coat, and keeps it open. He's just that confident. His skills are simple, but really sell the idea that it's almost impossible to injure Hawkeye Mihawk. I think he hasn't been damaged at all in the series, to this day. It would be funny to have him as a random NPC that will just show up on a map, cause some destruction, and just leave.

Silvers Rayliegh

Class - Gold Knight

Skill - Dark King’s Wisdom - +25% to critical hit rate for allies within 3 spaces.

Weapons - Silver Blade - Unit can counterattack from any distance. After battle, inflict -3 to SPD/DEF to enemies within 3 spaces of target.

This humble shipwright is actually a living legend who once terrorized battlefields. Rayleigh retired after his commander died, and passes his time by gambling away his humble earnings. Sometimes Rayleigh speaks of distant events as if they happened recently. He may be much older than he lets on. Rayleigh takes Luffy as his protege, and trains him for 2 years.

Artist Notes

Logically, Rayleigh should be a Silver Knight (Lances/Bows). But since he's seen using a sword, I made him a Gold Knight (Swords/Axes). Gameplay-wise, he functions like a Gotoh character. He's present in the story for a while, but doesn't join you until almost the very end.I wrote the setting to make Roger's story happen in the distant past, so Rayleigh still being around is quite mysterious!

Shanks

Class - Hero

Skill - Emperor’s Ambition: Inflicts -10 ATK/SPD/DEF to enemy units within 5 spaces.

Weapons - Griffon: Allows unit to counterattack from any distance and attack twice.

A modern legendary hero who has made a name for himself on many battlefields. Before he became a living legend, Shanks was just a simple mercenary. After meeting a young Luffy and saving his life, Shanks entrusts his straw hat to the boy and promises to meet him again in the future.

Artist Notes

I love Shanks as a Hero! His outfit is based on Greil from Path of Radiance, though it's flipped so the armor is over his right arm. This Hero design gives off a more rugged feeling, doesn't it? I kept his shirt mostly unbuttoned, since I figured Shanks probably isn't great at buttoning things with just one arm. How does he get the armor on though...At this point in the story, we still don't know much about Shanks and his abilities! So I focused on his overwhelming Haki, and gave him a skill that debuffs nearby enemies. It's hard to approach him at full strength!
